Askar Hotel

We stayed at the Mali mini-hotel for 11 days in August 2021. The summer kitchen was in poor shape, with pots and pans that looked like they were from the USSR. Towels and bed linens weren't changed by the hosts either. The walls were practically cardboard, so you could hear EVERYTHING. Internet worked only at the hosts' house and on their property, with guests dragging chairs outside to get a signal. The TV seemed to depend on that connection and kept freezing, so watching anything was impossible. Electricity in Abkhazia was usually cut between 3 and 5 AM. It rarely returned at 5, generally coming back later, and there was no water or power during that period. The host used the generator only once while we were there.

The location was inconvenient, with dirty village streets and the city 6 km away. Local shops had little choice, and there wasn't much vegetation around the rural area. The yard was neglected, and the only kitchen was a summer one, which is especially awkward when it rains. The room wasn't cleaned and towels weren't replaced. Through the walls, you could hear everything happening in neighboring rooms. The dishes were not especially clean, the bathtub leaked, and there were ants in the room. Internet and TV were unavailable for three days.

A really lovely place. The sea isn't far away, and everything was clean and tidy. There are cafes and shops fairly close, plus a shared kitchen where you can prepare your own meals.

The hosts were very welcoming and the rooms were excellent. Families should feel comfortable here, with lots of children staying, a playground, and a fully gated property.
