Nobi Guest House

The guesthouse is right in the center, which is really its one clear advantage. Cafes are close, the beach and promenade are 200 meters away, and the grocery stores, train station, Colonnade, and Gagripsh restaurant are about a 10-minute taxi ride. The room does look like the photo, too. But the stay itself was awful. I travel often for work in Russia and abroad, and I've never met hosts this rude. The photos were taken from flattering angles, while there's a huge garbage container by the entrance, an unfinished building next door, and no real yard. In the triple room we found four cheap plastic hangers, no full-length mirror, only one chair, and just two bedside tables for the third bed. The one-meter dryer in the shared hall was used constantly by neighbors from the other rooms. When we asked about drying clothes, the hosts rudely told us to borrow clothespins from the neighbors or use another floor. On the third floor, wind from the unfinished building can blow cement onto clothes and turn light-colored things gray. The room was dusty around the light fixtures and behind the bedside tables, the range hood was attached with masking tape, and the outlets above the bed were old and yellowed. It felt like the owners were saving money on everything. If you're booking in Gagra, I'd avoid a guesthouse. Last year we stayed at Apsuan, and the service and attitude were completely different.

Our double room was cozy, clean, and looked recently renovated, with mountains outside the window. The center and the beach are very close, and the area around the guesthouse is well-developed. The owners, Anna and Ashot, were hospitable and quick to respond. They organized the transfers and excursions we needed, so I don't understand what the woman in the review below disliked. Nobitransfer deserves a special mention. They handled our request quickly, met us, drove us to the border, and after we crossed, another driver was waiting. He helped load our luggage into the trunk and took us promptly to the hotel.

This was our second year coming back, and the hosts were just as attentive as before. The value for the price is ideal, and everything from the location onward worked well. The sea is two blocks away in a straight line. We left the car on the street, though the area has video surveillance. I was initially worried about being so close to the railway, but during the vacation we stopped noticing it. Thanks for the stay, we'll come again.
