Yevropa Hotel

We stayed at the "Europa" in 2021, and reading the newer reviews makes me glad we had such a good experience. Our room was spacious, bright, clean, and everything worked. It had a TV, hairdryer, refrigerator, and the usual essentials. Cleaning was done when requested, using the sign on the door. The buffet dining room offered a delicious and very varied selection. There was a market and cafes nearby, along with plenty of places to walk around and enjoy the southern atmosphere. We have visited Abkhazia many times and stayed in different places, and we've always had a wonderful time, so perhaps we've been lucky. Rotavirus has always been a problem, and still is, not only in Abkhazia but along the whole Black Sea coast, including Sochi, Adler, and Gelendzhik. People need to be careful. It's sad that tourism in Abkhazia is declining, even though we did experience good times there. So have five years really ruined everything? We couldn't have imagined all of it, could we?! Everything is fine there.

Between Europe 1 and Europe 2, I would definitely choose Europe 1. Europe 2 may have a newer building, but it has too many inconveniences. The pool is shaded after noon because sunlight reaches it only until 12 a.m., whereas the pool at Europe 1 stays in the sun. The rooms have no full-length mirror, just a small bathroom one, and the reception is separate. If two people share a room, they receive only one key instead of two. The dining room was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen in my life 🙈 I can show a video review to anyone interested. Security guards also often block the way to the sea. When the exit is opened, the sea is only about 50 meters away, which is a major advantage, but when it is closed you have to walk all the way around the hotel. The one especially nice feature of Europe 2 is being able to go directly from the room to the street. Otherwise, the market, Pyaterochka, shopping center, and promenade are all fairly close. Still, Europe 2 has a huge number of flaws, so Europe 1 is the clear choice for me.

Our rooms weren't cleaned, and we ended up asking neighbors for toilet paper. I was surrounded by irritating older women who seemed to be freeloading, taking cookies, coffee, and fruit back to their rooms. On October 2, with the hotel completely full, we asked the manager to open the gates to the beach. We were told they were closed for the season, so we had to walk around the hotel. Basically, they told us straight to our faces that they were tired of vacationers.

We booked a seven-night economy tour and found both the hotel and service below standard. In the old building, the floors were carpeted, but the rooms were barely cleaned. They only vacuumed, leaving everything very dirty and stained. After three nights we discovered bedbugs. It was horrific, and my husband was covered in bites. They moved us to another room, but first offered us yet another night sleeping with the bedbugs. The new building was unfinished even though guests were already being moved into it.
