Damir Mini Hotel

The place is quiet and peaceful, and the air conditioning, refrigerator, showers, and other basics all worked. The bathrooms were soapy, and the cleaning was adequate. There is food for guests, so you won’t go hungry, though tastes differ and it’s not a self-service kitchen issue only. We preferred the beach cafe, with a cheburechnaya and subway rentals. The beach is beside a cold current, so anyone wanting warmer water has another 15-minute walk in flip-flops. Victoria’s checkpoint is also 15 minutes away, and the bus station beside it has minibuses going anywhere in Abkhazia.

We don’t recommend this place. The atmosphere is unwelcoming, the receptionists are rude and always drunk, and payment is taken upfront with no refund if you leave early. Wi-Fi kept cutting out, and there were daily electricity and power problems. We were told outages happened throughout Abkhazia, but we haven’t experienced anything like that in Abkhazia since. There are only two kettles and one gas stove for the whole “hotel.” Washing machines cost extra, and nobody warned us about that or about the power being switched off at certain times every day.

The rooms are okay, but guests have to clean them and change the bed linen themselves. The advertised full kitchen isn’t really there and doesn’t match the photos. In reality, there are two electric kettles, a microwave, and one stovetop that tends to break.

The hosts take payment upfront and are rude if you object, offering only a minimal refund. The place itself was extremely dirty, with mold on the walls and holes in the bed linen. There wasn’t even soap in the room, and using the washing machine costs extra. Disgusting.
