Captain Black Hotel

The sea is the main attraction, warm and crystal clear right outside the windows, but that also means hearing it all night. During our arrival, the weather was somewhat stormy, and because the windows had almost no sound insulation, it was noisy. The neighbors were reasonable, so the general lack of soundproofing didn't bother us. Our room was basically fine. The air conditioning worked well, though the daily cleaning was only nominal. For three days that was acceptable to me, but I couldn't spend a standard vacation with cleaning like that. There are two cafes and a canteen nearby. Their food is simple, the service unobtrusive, and the prices reasonable. The beach is decent, with sand and pebbles washed away after the storm. It is cleaned, and there are two colorful swings that are great for selfies. Bungalows and hanging loungers cost extra, while an awning with shade all day and plastic loungers are free. In the evening, the beach sometimes has music and a projector party, though my child and I didn't attend. We had a good rest because we came for the sea, but I wouldn't stay at this hotel again or recommend it to friends. A TV was also missing.

The clean, modern room and the view are the main reasons to come here. A cafe nearby served our breakfast, which was delicious. Two people ate scrambled eggs, soup, syrniki, and tea for 1200 rubles. There's also a small fruit shop about 10-15 minutes away on foot, but not much else to do in the area. We saw music and a foam party on the beach, which created a great atmosphere. SUPs and gazebos can be rented. Super hotel.

You can step out of the room and be on the beach, with crystal-clear water and even dolphins to watch. At night, the sound of the waves is what you'll fall asleep to. The rooms are spacious enough and equipped to modern standards, and cleaning is done daily. The building is framed, so some noise carries through. It isn't as noticeable as in the private sector, but you can hear it. That small caveat didn't spoil the experience of this being one of the best places for an active Black Sea holiday.

We didn't stay inside the hotel, but the beach is magnificent and one of our favorites. It has a bar, swings, and paddleboard rentals for 500 rubles per hour. There are also wooden bungalows that can accommodate six people comfortably, though 4,000 rubles per day feels expensive for Abkhazia.
