Al Diar Dana

Al Dana turned out to be a very positive surprise after I’d read comments that made me expect the worst. We stayed five days while visiting Abu Dhabi for an event, and the staff were warm and attentive from the start. The location was excellent for getting around, and the price felt reasonable by Abu Dhabi standards, even if it isn’t cheap everywhere. The building is well structured and everything was clean, tidy, and fresh-smelling. Our room had plenty of space, and the air conditioning worked very well. The décor is dated, but it’s maintained well enough that it didn’t affect our stay. Breakfast was included and more than sufficient for me. The ground-floor restaurant also had excellent service, with both buffet and à la carte choices. Abu Dhabi itself impressed us too, especially the welcoming people, beautiful city, and good food.

Louie, Lean, and Shashi made the hotel visit especially pleasant. All three were welcoming, charming, and helpful during registration and throughout my stay. My thanks to them, the front desk, and the rest of the staff for their excellent hospitality. I’d certainly recommend the hotel to people visiting the city.

The location of Al Diar Mina Hotel made it easy to reach important parts of Abu Dhabi, and the spacious room was comfortable rather than cramped. The staff were courteous, and although the property is older, it was maintained well. My main disappointments were the limited breakfast selection and the room assignment. I had booked a king or double room in advance but received twin beds instead because of availability. Better coordination between the booking aggregator and the hotel should help ensure guests receive the room type they reserved. With more breakfast choice and more accurate bookings, this could have been a 5-star stay.

I’m visiting the same place again in 2026, and the building on Electra is still standing tall and proud. Back in 2009, the rooms were excellent and the service was great. It was a landmark near my office, and I used to spend weekends at the South Indian bar or restaurant on the M Floor.
