Swiss Hotel Corniche

It’s quiet and close to the beach. The service is good, and everyone here seems to smile all the time.

The beds were reasonably comfortable, but that was about the only positive. During my three nights there, the water was cold at best because there was no hot water. The aircon also wasn’t working properly, and I could smell everything the chefs were preparing for hotel guests. Breakfast was another disappointment, with poor quality and very little choice. I didn’t even bother looking at the dinner menu afterward. There’s also no parking for guests, and finding a place for my car took almost 2 hrs. I was working in the building next door, so I didn’t have the time or resources to move hotels. If you have a choice, don’t choose this one.

We asked for a sea view room when booking, but the hotel refused to give us one when we arrived. Parking was unavailable, and they demanded the car keys without giving us a reason. The room information said an iron was provided, yet there was no iron inside. The bathroom was dirty, and although the room was for two people, there were towels for only one. Humidity was also a serious problem, with everything in the room feeling wet. This was the worst hotel we’ve stayed in. We’re very disappointed and won’t return.

My contact with the staff was limited to the lobby and a ball room on the mezzanine floor, but everyone I spoke with left a positive impression. Swiss Hotel looks like an older property that has been renovated skillfully. There was also a busy eatery or cafe in the lobby during the afternoon. Judging by the visitors, I suspect many of them were local people stopping in for an afternoon refreshment rather than hotel guests.
