Africana Hotel

The day-shift receptionist was polite and communicated respectfully, even when refusing a request. The night-shift receptionist was the opposite, speaking rudely, acting as though he were the manager, and making everything unnecessarily difficult. Wi-Fi was very poor, and the room was only suitable for a one-night stay. I wouldn’t recommend this place, mainly because of the night receptionist’s unprofessional behavior.

The room was hot and impossible to sleep in because the AC control was broken and the unit only blew fan air. When we complained, housekeeping told us to stand in front of it if we wanted cool air. We lost the whole night’s sleep. The washbasin and shower also wouldn’t drain, so taking a proper shower was difficult, and even basic drinking water was not provided properly. TV, telephone, and refrigerator were shown during booking, but nothing worked after check-in. For what we paid, the basic service was unacceptable. Hotel Africana was one of the worst and most frustrating hotel experiences I’ve had, and I would warn future guests not to book it.

Avoid this hotel. The rooms were dirty, there were bugs in the bathroom, and there was no hot water. The staff seemed lazy and uninterested. They tried to get me to cancel my booking because it was New Year, but I refused. It seemed obvious that they wanted to rent the room for a higher price. The cost isn’t worth it.

The busy Deira Naif location was fine, but the stay itself was uncomfortable. My room had not been cleaned properly, with a dirty-looking floor and bathroom, and some basic items were missing. One of the reception guys was rude and irritated instead of explaining things helpfully. The hotel needs to improve its hygiene, supply the items guests should receive, and train the staff to be respectful. Overall, it did not feel like a Rural area Lodge.
