Grand Midwest Hotel Apartment In Bur Dubai

The room stayed clean, and the service doing that was great. It had a microwave, washing machine, and ironing table. Parking was a problem because there aren’t many spaces, and although I complained that the water was really cold because the heater wasn’t working, they did nothing about it. It’s a decent apartment hotel, so don’t expect much.

I stayed from January 19 - February 8, 2014, for 3 weeks, and wish I hadn’t paid for a nonrefundable room, because I would definitely have checked out. The room itself was fine, nothing special, but the rest was awful. The manager was EXTREMELY rude and argued with me when I said the place was awful. They couldn’t find my reservation even though I’d paid 3 weeks up front through Hotwire. I had all the printouts, but they wouldn’t even let me use the phone to confirm it. Dirty towels were taken when rooms were cleaned and not replaced, and getting fresh ones took over 2 hours. The washing machine was broken, and although they said someone would fix it, nobody did. The gym was filthy and most machines only half-worked. The glass top of the stove broke for no reason, leaving glass all over my room for almost 2 days before anyone cleaned it. I had hot water in the shower probably about 20% of the time. Don’t let the cheap price persuade you. This is a hostel masquerading as a hotel, and I’ve stayed in nicer hostels.

There are plenty of restaurants around the hotel, which is in a good area. It’s around 15 min by foot from Ibn Batuta mall. The rooms are equipped with a kitchen, washing machine, and sink for washing dishes. Not a bad place to stay.

The surroundings are quiet, in a nice residential area away from the busy city. It’s an average hotel apartment that works for a quick stay in Dubai, but you’ll need to take a taxi to get to most parts of the city.
