The A/C worked great in both rooms, the refrigerators worked very well, and the in-room washer was excellent. I also appreciated that nobody bothered me and the place was quiet and private apart from street noise. The staff were friendly and let me extend my first checkout by an hour because the washer was still running and I had to wait for my laundry. The beds, pillows and covers were lovely, and the rooms were clean, though they looked a bit depressing. But across the two rooms I stayed in, there was always something broken or missing. The kitchenettes were very poorly equipped, with old pans and almost no cutlery. The first had one fork, no spoon and one butter knife. The second had one fork and three butter knives. I had to call for a spoon in both rooms, and asked for a microwave in the second after the burner kept blowing the fuse and wouldn’t work. In room 2, the light switches didn’t work and some bulbs were burned out. After the third night’s room service, the trash can was taken away and no towels were left. I called four times for towels and finally got them at 11:06 am, after waiting since the previous night. Nearly half the day was gone before I could shower. In the first room there was only one bin in the bathroom; the second had two, but after the first room service one was removed, leaving just the bathroom bin. The shower was really uncomfortable, with a tiny space about 2x2ft square. It’s easy to hit your knees on the bottom tap; I already bruised my right knee just turning around. The safe in room 1 wouldn’t open. After giving up on figuring out which amenities worked, I didn’t even try the safe in room 2. I’ve never had to call reception so many times for things missing or breaking on their own.
