Gulf Star Hotel Deira

The stay wasn’t worth the money. I found the room overpriced for its quality, and the bathroom was dirty and missing basic amenities. I was extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone wanting a comfortable stay.

There was no chance of resting with the shisha bar in the hotel. It’s officially open until 5am but carries on until around 6. The music bass shakes the walls, and we couldn’t sleep until 6am. They don’t even turn it down during the azan for fajr. The first floor has a “Massage” center, and the second floor a shisha bar. There are holes in the sheets, and the carpet had more hair than your head. I found the place crazily disgusting, and agree with what’s written in the one-star reviews. Only the manager knows how this hotel got even that one star. Any hostel would be cleaner and better for resting. It’ll be history if someone from the tourist police or health department shows up. Don’t waste a penny here. It’s no place for a family or solo female traveler. Agoda customer service won’t help you get out.

The bed was full of bed bugs, as the attached video shows. The AC didn’t work, and there was no water from the bathroom shower. Even though I’d paid upfront for an online reservation, they charged me extra at checkout. A very pathetic experience, not recommended. I feel I should report it to the municipality too.

The rooms are okay, but I don’t think they justify the price. For 300 to 400, you could get better rooms and plenty of amenities in other locations, including fountain park.
