La Zona Continental Hotel

The kids loved it so much they asked us to stay longer next time, and we’ll definitely be back. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice, and the attentive staff were quick to help and suggest things. The pool was a hit with the children, with a beautiful night view and separate pools for kids and adults. The jacuzzi was the one disappointment, the water was cold and it wasn’t working properly. Our room was spacious, calm and quiet, with tasteful furnishings and a clean bathroom. The shower had reliably hot water, which mattered after a long day. The reception area felt elegant and peaceful, and the friendly, professional staff made check-in smooth. Parking was clean and spacious, with none of the unpleasant odors we’ve encountered at some other hotels. We also appreciated the security, since the elevators need a room key card to operate. We had an amazing weekend stay at La Zona Continental Hotel with family, and everything exceeded expectations.

The room at La Zona was huge, pretty, and had a really comfortable bed. It felt like someone had put care into making the place look good. But the rest of our eight-day stay often felt confusing and unwelcoming. Getting in was rough. A man at reception was unfriendly and asked us for a deposit, then his colleague suddenly told him not to. We checked in at 5 pm, already pretty late, and our deluxe room still wasn't ready. When we finally got in, we found several hairs and a stain on the bedsheet, which was gross, so we asked for fresh sheets right away. Housekeeping wouldn't answer when I called. When I complained to reception, the woman cut me off mid-call even though I hadn't been rude. If I eventually reached housekeeping and asked for two bottles of water, it took ages for them to arrive. Later, they said extra water would cost money, which I'd never encountered or heard of elsewhere. One night I asked for another key card because my wife was left sitting in the dark while I went to collect an order. Reception said there were no cards and to come back in the morning. Odd for a big hotel. I couldn't get a response by email, WhatsApp, or Instagram before our visit, so I had to call internationally from home. During that call the woman kept asking me to leave a review, even though I hadn't stayed yet. I wish the hotel would hire friendlier people. It has a shady, unfriendly feel, and we felt unwelcome. The room was nice, but we may not stay again.

The rooms were nice and well decorated, and the staff were helpful during my 12-day stay. The hotel had all the amenities. My main disappointment was breakfast, which is why I gave it three stars. I booked bed and breakfast for the whole stay because I was traveling with my senior father and breakfast matters to us. The food didn't seem fresh, flies were around it, choices were very limited, and the taste wasn't great. They served nearly the same things every day, with no real variety. For the price of the package, I expected better. I'd stayed at Studio M next door before. Their breakfast cost less, had lots of options, and changed daily. Management should improve the breakfast service. Apart from that, I was happy with the staff and rooms.

Spans, the head of housekeeping, has been on point and ready to help, and she runs a tight ship where service comes first. The staff have been helpful all around, and they're nice and quick to respond when you ask for something. Breakfast has been good every time, with plenty to choose from. The rooms are spacious, and the children have had fun. It's been a lovely stay, a wow experience from start to finish.
