Royal Tulip Hotel ex Al Farej

The room was horrible, with cockroaches, a strong bad smell, and a dirty, sticky carpet. The only spot that smelled nice was the front desk. The location was convenient, but booking this hotel was a mistake I'll never repeat. ☹️

Please be careful about the advance payment. We noticed stains on the bedsheet and blanket as soon as we arrived. We didn't complain then, thinking they were already there and choosing to be understanding. At checkout, though, they acted as if we'd caused the stains and kept the advance money. Before we even checked in, reception wouldn't answer repeated calls from me or the booking platform. We had paid, so felt we had no choice but to go ahead. The stay was meant to be an enjoyable holiday with proper hospitality, but the checkout was upsetting. After my companion raised our side of the damage allegation in a high voice, the receptionist on duty shouted too and challenged us to call the authorities. That was unprofessional and unethical front desk behavior. Of all the countries I've visited, I've only experienced this poor hotel service here in Dubai. Not recommended.

The Deira location made getting around easy. Gold Souq Metro Station is very close, and groceries, inexpensive local food, and shops are right outside at prices lower than in other parts of Dubai. For the price, the value was hard to beat. I spent five days at Royal Tulip Hotel and found it comfortable. Staff brought requested room amenities within seconds. The night team stood out: the Pakistani man at reception was professional and handled things smoothly, while the Nepali security guard greeted me with a smile and a good attitude. Breakfast was just okay, but the stay was affordable and hospitable.

There are four parking spots, and each costs 50 AED per night, despite the hotel advertising parking as available. When I questioned this, an employee said, “it’s written below.” I found that careless and ridiculous. The room had cigarette burns, a broken bathroom, and dust everywhere. Its condition made me worry I'd become seriously ill staying there. Be careful with your belongings too. Reception staff were awful, with a poor attitude and no idea how to deal with guests. This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. It was bad in every way, with plenty of red flags. I don't know why it's even open. They are liars and scammers.
