The apartment was spacious and spotless, with comfortable, cozy bedrooms and everything we needed. Its Downtown Dubai location made it easy to get around, and the view of the Burj Khalifa from our two-bedroom place was spectacular. We felt welcome from the start, thanks especially to the young man who greeted us. I think he was Argentinian, though we didn’t catch his name. He was so kind and attentive, and deserves special recognition. We were very happy with our stay and would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

The front desk staff seemed all over the place, though they were apparently about to lose their jobs. We were told to leave as soon as possible, and guards were brought in. This happened after we’d booked and paid for ten days in a two-bedroom apartment: about four days before we were due to leave, we got a call saying we had to go. We lost a day rebooking, and prices had gone way up. The rooms were stark, and the kitchen was poorly equipped, without even a frying pan.

I had an amazing stay here in February 2024 and keep wanting to come back. I’ve tried to work out how to book the same hotel throughout 2025 and into 2026, but I can’t find a way through the website or apps like Booking. Is something wrong? How can I book an apartment in the Sonder Downtown towers?

Our stay began so well: we had a huge three-bedroom apartment on the 31st floor with amazing views. It’s a shame that dream was cut short. Otherwise, it was a wonderful property to stay in. After only a few days, we were told to leave because Sonder had contractual issues with Marriott and the building was being shut down on very short notice. My family, including a toddler and elderly relatives, had less than 24 hours to find somewhere else during peak season. Reception only offered shabby alternatives in Bur Dubai or Sharjah. I booked through Airbnb and was lucky to get a full refund. Many other guests weren’t so lucky. It was a shocking experience I won’t forget. Shame on Sonder and Marriott for the contractual issues and for messing things up for guests.

My reservations were simply cancelled, and nobody responded to me. The only contact options were email, which got no response, and the app, which kept sending the same automatic reply. I contacted Marroto several times by email and phone, and at least they replied. They advised me to contact my bank, which had issued the card I used to pay. After I showed the cancellation evidence, I got my refund 18 days later. They’re unprofessional and irresponsible, with no respect for their clients. DO NOT BOOK. If they do this once, they’ll do it again. Shame on you, Sonder.
