York International Hotel

The check-in was a nightmare despite my confirmed Agoda booking for two adults. Because of an emergency, my guest only had a digital copy of her passport. Staff said that wasn't acceptable for a guest and that only original IDs were allowed. Then they said she could stay as a “visitor” if I paid another 100 AED, and the digital copy would be fine. I have the receipt for that extra charge. That makes no sense to me. The document was supposedly invalid, but became acceptable once I paid. It felt like a scam aimed at taking money from guests in a difficult situation. There are much better hotels nearby with respectful service and clear policies. I strongly suggest choosing somewhere else. I plan to report this to the authorities.

The room was dirty and badly maintained, and it clearly hadn't been cleaned properly. The bed seemed broken in the middle, and basic hygiene was lacking, so the stay was uncomfortable. I expected better cleanliness and comfort, especially in Dubai, and it felt like guest satisfaction wasn't getting any attention. Reception made things worse. The male receptionist I met at night, wearing a black coat, was unprofessional and disrespectful, and didn't know how to speak to customers despite working in customer service. My stay at York International Hotel was a huge waste of time and money, one of my worst hotel experiences in Dubai. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for a clean, comfortable stay. There are much better choices at the same price.

The breakfast was one of the worst hotel breakfasts I've had. The buffet had limited choices, and the food quality didn't meet even basic expectations. The atmosphere also made the hotel unsuitable for families. Multiple bars and pubs in the lobby brought loud crowds and inappropriate behavior every day, which felt uncomfortable and unpleasant. When we raised concerns, staff weren't supportive or responsive, and basic hospitality standards were missing. I hope management takes the feedback seriously and improves service, guest safety, and food quality.

I was woken by security at our door after my husband and I were late checking out because the bank was updating and we needed more time. I tried explaining what was happening, but the receptionist was very rude and wouldn't even acknowledge it. We both had high fevers and needed a little time to process everything. The rooms were only okay, but the service made the stay much worse. There were cockroaches and, sadly, bed bugs. I have bites all over my leg. I don't know the staff member's name, but he was a Malayali person. The cupboards were dusty too. A very upsetting experience. We've stayed in many hotels in the city since June, and I hope they learn what customer service should be like.
