Al Salam Grand Hotel

I was really disappointed as soon as I entered the room. Cockroaches were moving around on the bed, and then I saw them on the floor too. The place was not hygienic at all, and the washroom was full of water. After I told the staff, they only gave me a towel and did nothing else. I honestly wonder who gave this hotel 4 Star. I will never recommend it.

Our 10-day stay at AlSalam over the new year was extremely disappointing. In the first suite, the toilet flush would be fixed and then stop working after one use, so we had to use the pool toilets on the 16th floor, even in the middle of the night. The replacement suite had a broken hair dryer, and both rooms had cockroaches. Housekeeping did not clean the room, change towels, or refill toiletries unless we gave instructions at reception every morning. It felt like we worked there instead of being guests. We asked for Mr Khalid every day for four days, but he was always “in a meeting.” There is nothing grand about this hotel, and I would stay away.

The lack of towels was bad enough, but the cockroaches were worse, including some crawling on the bed. When we asked the receptionist about towels, he first said that they did not provide them. After we asked again, he changed his explanation and said they had run out and would only have more in the morning. That certainly does not sound like the intended service of a 4-star hotel. Disgusting experience.

The rooms are spacious, classically decorated, and reasonably priced, while the staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to Sharjah expo center, and reaching dubai takes about five minutes from there during non traffic hours. Parking inside the building was limited, which was a drawback, and the tea or coffee sacks were empty, despite that being a basic provision. Still, I had an overall good experience.
