LaVista Antigua

The tropical gardens, fruit trees, and pool give LaVista a really cheerful island feel. Set on the water in the southeast of Antigua, it looks across Mamora Bay and the St. James Club(Hotel), with spectacular views. Karen and Michael have created comfortable rooms with a Caribbean style, and the accommodation is surprisingly affordable. In our experience, it compares very favorably with many of the island's more upscale hotels.

LaVista Antigua gave me two amazing days and one night of real privacy and peace. The apartments are stylishly designed, and the grounds show a lot of care. From the rooms, the bay looks calm and beautiful, while Karen and Michael make sure guests have what they need. The drive up is rough and definitely an adventure. Anyone bringing a car should use a four-wheel drive, although that was only a small issue in the bigger picture. I'd happily come back and would recommend it for a luxurious, intimate escape.

Our first-floor suite at "La Vista" was just right for our February stay. Karen and Michael were kind, efficient hosts, and even made sure the fridge had a little of everything. The bay view is splendid, and the pool area and sea access are both lovely. We only spent a few hours there, though, since we'd already explored so many of Antigua's beaches. The final mile of road is uncomfortable enough that a jeep is a good idea. We also appreciated the delicious tropical fruit from Karen and Michael. Carlo and Marisa

LaVista was the quiet escape we had been hoping for during our 10-night stay. The unit had everything we needed, and both the water and the view were even better than expected. Snorkeling right in front of the villa was fantastic, with thriving marine life, and ranked among the best we experienced on the island. Karen and Michael were excellent hosts. Their attention to detail and the information they shared before and throughout our visit made a real difference. Good restaurants and grocery shops are about 15 minutes away.
