The Ocean Inn

This charming Caribbean hotel sits on the hillside above English Harbour, with a wonderful view, although you should be prepared for plenty of steps. The family who runs it are extremely helpful. Our bungalow room was a good size, with lots of storage, a compact but sufficient bathroom, and a patio. Breakfast is included and makes it easy to put together a proper meal, with fresh fruit, pastries, toast, cereal, ham, cheese, and boiled eggs. There’s also Nespresso coffee available around the clock, an honour bar, plus a fridge and microwave in the room.

The owner and staff were what made this hotel stand out. They were so friendly and helpful that my daughter and I felt as though we were staying with relatives, and they really looked out for us. The hotel itself was warm and welcoming, with a pool that was clean, clear, and refreshing. Our room was comfortable and the location was very handy, just a short walk from restaurants, shops, a grocery store, and a pharmacy. The view was among the best I’ve seen from a hotel. Breakfast was included too, with plenty of food and good coffee. We’d happily stay here again if we return to Antigua.

Robert was an excellent host, always attentive, friendly, and ready to help. The accommodation looks out over English Harbour, making both mornings and evenings special. Having a reserved parking space was very useful for exploring the area. There’s plenty to do nearby, and we especially enjoyed snorkeling at Galleon Beach. I’d strongly recommend it for a stay in the area.

We stayed at The Ocean Inn for a week while celebrating my girlfriend’s birthday, and Robert and Annie made us feel at home right away. Our separate cabin had its own bathroom and a balcony overlooking English Harbour. The shared pool was spotless and enjoyed the same beautiful outlook, while the honesty bar became part of our daily routine. On-site parking was secure and easy, which helped since we had a car and wanted to explore the island. The location also worked well without driving, with everything in English Harbour within walking distance. Galleon Beach, Pigeon Point Beach, and Shirley Heights were about five minutes away by car. It’s a peaceful, personal place with plenty of character, and a lovely alternative to a large resort.
