Tranquility Bay Antigua

The beach restaurant is really great, and the cove is perfect for taking photos. Tranquility Bay itself is beautiful, with heavenly scenery and a wonderful beach. The comfortable villas and family-friendly amenities make it a good place for relaxing and for children of all ages. It’s especially suited to anyone looking to fully unwind.

The whole experience was awful, and we paid a hefty $3300 for it. There was no Wi-Fi, the internet cafe was terrible, and the washer and dryers on the property were horrible. The rooms had dingy, seemingly unclean towels, while we were told not to use the pool towels that were available. The air conditioning didn’t work in any of the rooms, so we were moved to new ones, but the problems continued. There was no running water at times, and when it returned the pressure was low. Of the 3 bathrooms, we could only use one, and it had no hot water. Hot water finally appeared when we were checking out. We never received towels. The so-called “privacy” windows weren’t private at all, and I’m sure all of Antigua saw me naked when I realized that. The security guards were rude too. Years ago, the resort offered wrist bands for access to all the amenities at jolly beach, but at check-in the front desk handed us a dirty copy of those amenities with the prices Tranquility Bay guests would have to pay already written on it. Even with all these inconveniences, nobody did anything to fix the situation. I’m filing a formal complaint to seek some reimbursement for how bad this place was.

The beach is the real highlight, beautiful, lovely, and not crowded at all. The people were amazing too, and the pools were lovely. The rooms are dated, and the indoor food was good and plentiful but a little basic. Food from the outdoor BBQ was really tasty, and the fish restaurant was good. I’d like to go back.

Antigua is a beautiful Island, and this was my husband’s and our kids’ first time there, but Tranquility Bay took away from that experience. We stayed there with other family members, since my family is from Antigua, and it was the worst mistake we could have made. The power often went out for hours, there was no wi-fi despite the property saying it had it, and the outside lights didn’t work, so everything was dark. We had no hot water for the entire stay, sometimes no water at all, and sometimes brown water. The toilet in our master bedroom stopped up every day. Our washing machine also flooded half of the apartment. What disappointed me most was the lack of concern at the front desk. Whenever we reported something, we got excuses instead of an apology. I hope this resort gets its act together for future guests. The only reason I gave it a star is that the site requires a rating to submit a review. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have given any stars.
