Hotel Colombo was a comfortable and beautiful place for our two nights in Berat. Our family room had two connected rooms, both spacious, clean, and well maintained, with great beds. Service was excellent and breakfast was satisfying overall. The basic gym could use more equipment, and a playroom or kids’ club would help families with small children. Apart from that, we really enjoyed the stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Despite its five-star rating, this hotel didn’t deliver a five-star experience. We had to ask for basic in-room items such as water, coffee, and tea bags. Breakfast was disappointing as well, with a very limited selection and most of the food, along with the coffee, served cold. I’d look at other hotels in Berat instead.

The building and location are impressive, and the exterior is excellent. Inside, though, it definitely doesn’t feel like five stars. I noticed damaged door jambs, old carpets, and mostly unsmiling staff. Only one restaurant employee was friendly and polite. It’s a real four-star property at most, especially compared with the nicer hotels we stayed in in other cities.

After exploring Mangalem and Gorica all day, returning to this level of modern comfort felt like a real reward. The hotel is right at the doorstep of a UNESCO site, and the staff pointed us toward local restaurants we would never have discovered on our own.

Berat’s biggest and most impressive building turned out to be our hotel, even though we had jokingly pointed at it while driving in. The receptionist was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the massage at the hotel was great too. A 5/5 experience.
