Durrës city centre felt relaxed and authentic, with a nice compact layout that was easy to explore on foot for an afternoon. The streets were clean, the area felt well kept and safe, and there weren't too many crowds or cars to make walking stressful. It has plenty of cafés, bakeries, and dessert places, plus a range of food options like pizza, kebabs, seafood, and traditional Albanian restaurants. I found some enjoyable meals, though there weren't endless standout dining experiences. Shopping was limited, with only a handful of clothing stores and some designer-inspired items, so it isn't the place for a big shopping trip. It has charm, but didn't strike me as a major tourist attraction.
