Zanzi Hotel

At £65 a night, I can’t understand the four-star rating. The room was in poor condition, with no kettle or phone to reach reception, and it wasn’t even clean. The bed was incredibly hard, while the tiny, dirty toilet looked like a makeshift fix. I strongly suggest checking the room before paying. I’ve stayed in 2-star and 3-star hotels in Albania that were much better than this dirty “4-star” hotel. It’s unpleasant that they leave rooms like this for guests. I can’t post all my pictures, but I’m filing an official complaint.

We regret booking here. I honestly don’t understand the four-star rating. The room felt neglected and poorly maintained, with none of the little comforts that would make a stay convenient. There was no kettle for tea or coffee, and the old, nearly nonfunctional fridge was completely empty. Even a basic cup of coffee costs extra, which feels unreasonable for a hotel of this supposed standard. It fell far short of expectations and what was advertised. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The car rental office that works with the hotel gave us a bad experience, so I recommend avoiding that office. The hotel itself was in a good location, the staff were very kind, and the rooms had been recently refurbished and were clean. Breakfast was average.

The buffet breakfast was something I looked forward to, with plenty of tasty options and good quality food and drinks. The hotel also has a restaurant, which was a plus. Our room was by the balcony, and they changed it when we made a request. Everyone was lovely throughout our stay, and room service did a good job tidying up. Egli, the receptionist (I hope I’ve got the spelling right), was warm and helpful and gave great service. The location is beautiful and close to the beach.
