Guri hotel has an old-world character that feels untouched by time, despite Elbasan being a modern business hub. I slept peacefully in a cosy old bed with a warm duvet, then shared breakfast in the traditional sitting room by the open fire with Lule, the friendly owner. The Albanian specialties were wonderful, especially the pita, flavorful honey, Albanian jam, white bread, and white cheese with an olive-like taste that I still crave. I had to return to Tirana, but Lule helped me find my bus stop. We hugged goodbye after breakfast, and I know I'll return. Lule and Hotel Guri are truly special, and the hotel is very close to Elbasan's beautiful old town.

Set inside an old castle wall, this hotel offers an experience worth having. The rooms are spacious and clean, and the quiet surroundings are only interrupted by the mosque across the road. Breakfast is a local Albanian buffet with plenty of juice and espresso. The owner is very helpful, although English is difficult for her. Make sure to see the gallery, which gives a look inside the castle walls. I really can't recommend this place enough.

The hotel has a character I prefer to chain properties, and it's conveniently close to restaurants, bars, and the main strip. Breakfast is included, with a coffee machine and water fountain beside reception. The staff are welcoming, and the rooms are clean and comfortable inside the castle walls. I took off a star because I expected a bath and a balcony to sit on, but I can still highly recommend staying here.

The breakfast was simple but more than adequate. The place was immaculate and exceptionally well maintained and clean, so I'd have no hesitation about recommending it or coming back.

Located just inside the castle wall, the hotel is wonderfully cosy and exceptionally clean. My wife even said it had the cleanest staircase she'd ever seen. The couple who run it are the nicest hotel owners we've met, and their son operates the Tower Cafe just outside. We would really like to return, it was an excellent choice.
