In Gallery Hotel & Spa

The hotel's aesthetic and spacious room are nice, but the service and facilities don't match the look. The buffet breakfast was really good when available, yet during our three-night stay we could have it only once. The sauna and steam room weren't turned on, even after we asked for the next day, and the pool had dirt in it. Communication about these problems was poor, especially outside weekends or peak periods, when it felt like we received a different experience. Our room was flooded when we arrived, so we couldn't check in and staff placed us in another nearby hotel. They didn't tell us before arrival, leaving us no choice, and we paid for that room ourselves. We don't expect them to cover it, but a complimentary drink or meal would have been a nice gesture from a hotel calling itself 4 star. Basic room details also need work, including somewhere to hang towels, a toilet roll holder, balcony furniture, and a way to control the air conditioner. I wouldn't return, since nicer places can be found nearby for a better price.

Inside, the building has amazing woodwork and plenty of space, while the outside is beautiful too. Ivy slightly covered the sign, but that only added to the charm. We stopped for coffee with some locals, and the coffee was as good as we've come to expect in Albania.

The food was good, but the waiter's service seriously lowered the rating. He mixed up two orders, brought different dishes, and insisted they were correct. The “Life Soup” was tomato-based, yet he kept saying it was the right soup. A pregnant lady at our table ordered vegetable spring rolls, but they contained only cheese. The waiter claimed there was “vegetable powder” inside, although the filling was completely colorless and just white.

The hotel has been completely renovated since my last visit four years ago, when the experience wasn't very good. Now it has great service, a stunning style, very spacious rooms, and a fantastic bar and restaurant. Don't miss it if you're in Korca.
