Nimfa Hotel

We only tried the restaurant, where the setting and view were both excellent. The food was delicious and the prices felt fair. The portions could perhaps have been more generous, and the utensils needed better polishing, but it was still a pleasant experience.

The beachfront setting is beautiful, but my three-night August stay with my partner was extremely unpleasant because of the staff. The receptionist repeatedly pulled strange faces when we asked for ordinary things like extra toiletries. At breakfast and dinner, the restaurant staff served us while keeping their eyes down, and when my partner went alone to ask for water or a menu to take to the room, the young men made perverted advances and brushed her off. She isn't a native Albanian speaker and tried to communicate in English. The beach is attractive but not private. Guests paying over 100 euros a night can have their cars blocked for hours by outsiders who drive in and pay only 10-15 euros for a sun lounger right beside them. For me, this place is worth visiting only for a few hours as an outside guest using the loungers.

The place itself is attractive, but the service was abysmal. I was charged €2 for parking even though no fee was displayed, it had previously been free, and this was in SEPTEMBER. A set of poor-quality loungers cost €15, despite arriving in the afternoon and being out of season. Other cars boxed me in so I couldn't leave. The rude parking attendant, apparently a prison doctor, had demanded the fee but then disappeared when I needed help. There was nobody at the bar, and at the empty restaurant two waiters sat on Facebook without acknowledging me. They sent me to reception, where nobody was there either. I used to visit often with my family, but I won't return. If you do go, ask for receipts so they pay their taxes and check every amount carefully.

The balcony sea view is still hard to beat, and the city is only a short drive away for an evening out. The beach is a wonderful private spot, too. Rooms could use more care, a fresh coat of paint, and better cleaning, while breakfast is just average. The staff need to be more attentive and friendly, although they were better than during our visit the previous year. All in all, it's a decent place with a beautiful restaurant view.
