Hotel Blue Sky

The room was amazing, and the cleaners were brilliant, but management left a lot to be desired. At check-in, the main receptionist was a 15-year-old girl who told me she’d left school to work there. Breakfast was a shambles: nobody checked who came in, so anyone could walk in off the street. Though I doubt they would, since the food was cold and awful. I didn’t see any management presence anywhere in the hotel.

The staff were really friendly, and there are plenty of places to eat within about five minutes. A supermarket is just across the road, too. The room was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was clean with a great shower. It's close enough to walk to the promenade, but far enough away to avoid its noise. Getting a taxi or driving down was easy as well.

The food at the hotel's restaurant was absolutely delicious, and the chef deserves a big thank you. The service, though, is why I can't rate the hotel higher. After we ordered wine, a waiter asked whether we were Muslim and if drinking it would be a sin. He also said “Turks do not smoke,” which is an inaccurate generalization, and brought up being a “pure Albanian,” which felt unnecessary and unprofessional. Later, when we asked for the bill, he whispered to a colleague, and they both looked over at us and giggled. It left us feeling like they were gossiping about guests instead of acting professionally.

The prices were low, and we really enjoyed our stay. Our room was spotless, comfortable, well kept, and had everything we needed to relax. The owner made the biggest difference: he was warm and polite from the moment we arrived, always ready with a smile, local information, or help with whatever came up. We felt at home. We chose this hotel for our vacation and it went beyond what we expected. We'd happily recommend it and definitely plan to return.
