Hostel Gjika

We stayed for ten nights. Breakfast was a highlight, with something different each day, and the host cooked really well. We had both traditional dishes like stuffed peppers and aubergines and familiar breakfast food such as eggs and toasties. The top floor terrace has lovely views, or you can get them from a room with a balcony. The rooms themselves felt a bit dull. They could use some maintenance and a fresh coat of paint.

For the price, this has to be Sarandë’s best value accommodation. We had two fantastic nights, with lovely “Mama” looking after us. She made us a delicious local breakfast and was always happy to help make us comfortable. The sea and city views are great too!

The balcony’s ocean view is the best thing about this place. The room itself is simple, but clean and comfortable. It’d be even more satisfying for guests if breakfast included fresh local produce, like fruit.

The location worked really well for us, just a five minute walk from the center, and the staff were super friendly and ready to help with anything. My friend and I stayed three nights. We arrived well after the latest check-in time on the first night, but they still welcomed us so hospitably. Our room was very clean, with a private bathroom and air conditioning that worked perfectly. It’s a cheap, decent base for seeing what sarande has to offer. I’d recommend it to anyone!
