I’ve travelled quite a lot and never had an experience like this with a hotel manager. Our original hotel messaged us the day before our stay to say they could no longer host us and had found another place nearby, Hotel Salvadore. We agreed to the price, and they said Hotel Salvadore knew to expect us. We arrived just after check-in opened, but reception was empty. A woman from the fish restaurant downstairs, who didn’t speak English, showed us to a room and called the manager. In a short phone call, he said he’d come later to check us in. At 9.30pm he knocked and told us we’d been given the wrong room, which had a balcony, and would have to pay 15 euros more than expected. When I said we thought that was the room assigned to us, he said we should have known it wasn’t right. We asked how we could have known, and he said that because another hotel referred us, we were a private booking and I should have explained that in our brief call. We said we wouldn’t know to make that distinction in England. He replied that his English was really good, which we had never questioned. He blamed us clearly, was rude, and raised his voice. Only after I said he couldn’t treat guests that way and I’d write a bad review did he back down and waive the extra 15 euros. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

The manager was arrogant and very difficult to deal with. He said one person couldn’t have booked 3 rooms, then asked us to cancel the booking we made on booking.com and pay cash separately for each room. When we refused, we were kicked out of the hotel. Avoid this hotel at all costs!!!

The hotel itself was clean and nice, and the food was good, though I wouldn’t call it the best seafood. What ruined the stay was the owner’s attitude and communication. He was friendly on the first night, chatting with us and offering the “best” seafood in town at a discount for hotel guests. The next day, the dinner bill came and the price was very high, even more than at most fancy restaurants in the city. When we tried to talk about the overpricing, he said he was the owner and had no time to discuss prices, complaints, or anything. He also wouldn’t take card for the food or room because he’d have to pay more taxes. The stay was okay overall, but I was very disappointed.

A big, new hotel with a large parking area. The owner speaks English very well and can help with everything. Breakfast could have more variety, though it’s fine if you’re staying for several days. There’s a seafood shop on the first floor, so the smell of fish and seafood may be uncomfortable if you don’t like it. The location shown is wrong. Look for the building in the picture behind, the hotel is in front of the petrol station.
