Mum’s cooking is fabulous, and the view from my balcony was fantastic. The host family is exceptionally warm and friendly. It’s centrally located for nearby attractions, and I strongly recommend it if you’re visiting Sanahin and Haghpat monasteries.

The owner speaks English, which earns the second star. But this B&B only has the B, meaning bed: the owner told me they don’t serve meals. It’s a flat in a Soviet-era building with no elevator, and the toilet and shower are shared. The price is too high for the quality, and it wasn’t negotiable.

Taron speaks perfect English and French and helped us with everything, including all the information we needed to visit the area. He even helped us mail postcards from Georgia. We spent one night with the whole apartment to ourselves, which felt like an authentic Armenian experience. It’s close to the city center and a great option for visiting the monasteries around Alaverdi.
