Sunny Sweet Home

Lena makes you feel at home, and she can cook if you ask in advance. It's a lovely homestay, though this isn't a hotel. We had little privacy because curtains connected our bedroom with other rooms. The bed was noisy, the blanket was too small for two, and there were spider webs around the bed, bathroom, and kitchen. I paid the same price for a three-star hotel in Yerevan where everything was outstanding, so Sweet Home didn't feel like good value for money.

Lena and Seta made our three nights feel like staying with family. They looked after us, made sure we had ideas for things to do and knew how to get around, and were always concerned that we were happy and had enough to eat. They're honest and caring. The other guests were warm and welcoming, and even the neighbors were helpful. The facilities were very comfortable, with a modern shower, a lovely big outdoor area to relax in, and super-fast, strong WiFi. Breakfast was sumptuous. The location is a minute's walk up a small hill from central Dilijan, near a large modern supermarket, a community center with many events including free cultural events open to tourists, and a couple of restaurants and coffee shops popular with locals and travelers. A perfect stay. I'll be back.

Google puts this hotel off Ordzhonikidze Street, where there's a very mean dog that could badly hurt you if it gets off its chain. It lunged at me and I had to yank it back. The actual place is where Google shows THE HOUSE Dilijan: pass Ordzhonikidze Street, take the next right up the small street, and Sweet Home is on the left. Lena, the owner, is the sweetest. She doesn't speak English, but is good with the Google Translate app. I'd definitely stay with her again. She makes a fantastic breakfast in her garden.

We'd booked five nights in a large apartment with five beds and a terrace. When we arrived, they showed us a small room with two single beds. Only after we asked did they explain that other guests were already in our booked flat, and they wanted to put us in the small, dark one for the same price. Another tourist arrived at the same time and had officially booked that smaller room, lol. We had to find another flat for all five nights. Really annoying and unsatisfactory.
