Sevan Lake Cottages

We spent 60,000 dram on stress and disrespect, and the host, Goqorik, showed no interest in hearing us out or fixing anything. He kept saying it wasn't his problem that Airbnb had rented us a cottage that was already taken, while also claiming he doesn't work with Airbnb. When we showed him the booking on his own account, he said he just swipes the notifications away. He'd turn around and leave instead of trying to sort things out. We arrived with kids and nobody was expecting us. Getting there was already difficult, and we were put in a filthy house with leaking toilets and sinks in both the bathroom and kitchen. It seemed like the place where his cleaning lady stayed. There were no towels, no washing machine, no decent toilets, and no toilet paper until we asked. Water kept leaking onto the floor, so we had to keep cleaning it up. Goqorik charged us 35,000 dram for the night and said he'd move us the next day to the better cottage we'd booked. Nobody came until we called and woke him at noon. Then he said we had to stay another night because our cottage was already occupied. We couldn't find somewhere else that day, so we were stuck in that dump. He didn't even call to tell us not to pack or wait. Airbnb did return our money, thankfully. He looked high to us, wore shades and never took them off. This young, amateur entrepreneur seemed to have no idea how to run a business or provide service or customer care. We found another place in Dilijan and left as soon as we could. This hellhole is called lava das city, though it has nothing to do with lavanda. DONT COME HERE WITH KIDS!!!!!

These seem to be among the few bungalows you can still find for a last minute AirBnB stay. The area is huge, with dacha-style cottages, and quite a few look as if unstable ground has let the marsh of Lake Sevan take them back. Finding the place can be confusing. Locals know it as “Lavanda City,” but Google Maps calls it Sevan Lake Cottages, a name nobody we asked seemed to recognize.

A cool place, you should have it.
