Alva Hotel & Spa

At checkout on our last day, nobody asked how the stay had gone or invited feedback. We didn’t feel welcome or appreciated, and for the price, the experience didn’t meet our expectations. There wasn’t even toothpaste in the room, though I’d expect basic items like toothpaste and a toothbrush. In our room, the shower was damaged and poorly fixed. It kept sliding down and was hard to hold or use. The hair dryer also kept stopping after less than five minutes, so we had to wait with wet hair for it to start again. The pool staff member was unfriendly. The restaurant and breakfast team were a bright spot, though. The service lady was sweet, friendly, and attentive, and made us feel welcome at meals. We’d booked two rooms for our family, but overall the stay was very disappointing.

The pool area was under renovation, which led to heating problems, and the restaurant felt quite cold even though it looked inviting. Staff assured us things would improve a lot when the work was finished. Even with those inconveniences, we enjoyed our stay and had a good time. The setting was peaceful, with lovely cottages among the forest trees. Our cottage was clean and nice, with two comfortable bedrooms and a cozy sitting room with a kitchen. The resort is not far from the ropeway or city center. We’d like to return in spring to enjoy the pool and the natural scenery once the renovation is complete.

We had a great six-day stay with the family. The ropeway is right behind the hotel, and taxis to the restaurants were surprisingly cheap. Everyone was friendly, even the other guests, and we enjoyed the food and service. Thanks to the guy at the bar, whose name we forgot, and to the person who cleaned our room and played with the kids. I had a very relaxing stay. The hotel has good breakfast, an indoor pool, and billiards. It’s surrounded by lush green trees, which felt soothing, and even in summer the temperature goes down to 6 degrees. The location is perfect too, within easy walking distance of the Ropeway.
