We felt uncomfortable in so many ways, and I can’t recommend staying here. I’d read the reviews and expected something different. The room is inside a private home, and there’s no front door key, so you have to ring every time you want to get in. Each time, I felt like I was interrupting a family gathering around the kitchen table. There wasn’t anywhere to sit in the room either. When we arrived, they showed us a small pool and said we could use it. About 15 minutes later, I came downstairs to say we wouldn’t use the pool, but hoped to sit at the table for a while after dinner. The wife said they were having a BBQ party, so we couldn’t. The pool was included in the amenities and was one reason we booked, but I said it was okay. When I came back from the car, she and her husband were arguing loudly about it. Afterward, the owner kindly brought a small table and chairs to our room. I asked for two glasses since there weren’t any in the room, and he said no. He also said we couldn’t drink alcohol, though we hadn’t planned to. Those interactions left us feeling awkward and unwelcome. When we came back from dinner, a very loud party was going on in the pool room. It lasted until 3am and kept us awake. The water also stopped working that evening, so we couldn’t brush our teeth or flush the toilet. It didn’t come back until morning. The bed was far too soft and uncomfortable. The shower had almost no pressure, and its temperature kept changing. I don’t know why other reviewers had different experiences, but ours was deeply uncomfortable.

The hosts were super kind and hospitable, and they took us on guided tours. They made us feel incredibly welcome. We’ll be back!

This is my favorite hotel when I’m passing through Yerevan. It’s in the center of Vagharshapat, in a quiet spot, with the Cathedral about a five-minute walk away. There’s an inexpensive, tasty food court nearby, along with the Machanents Museum. It’s closer to the airport than Yerevan and very reasonably priced. Grigoriy is a great host: welcoming, responsible, decent, and intelligent. He speaks three languages, can give you an excursion or pick you up from the airport in his comfortable business class car, and is always ready to offer advice or help. Booking through booking or directly on WhatsApp is convenient. Inside, there are comfortable mattresses, good bed linen, hygiene products, a washing machine, and a veranda. You can have wine in the evening, and there’s a refrigerator and kitchen for making tea or cooking. Slippers, outlets, and air conditioners are provided too.

We stayed at this excellent hotel twice and were very pleased both times. The hosts are warm, friendly, and attentive. Both excursions, to Garni, Gerard, and Aragats, were interesting and informative. Grigory was a great storyteller and conversationalist. Thank you so much!
