The staff were the one bright spot: friendly, helpful, and quick to answer questions. The rest made it hard to sleep. You can hear the street and neighboring rooms, and dogs right outside the entrance bark under the windows all night. The mattresses are cheap and the springs are easy to feel, so one night might be manageable, but a longer stay makes a decent night's sleep almost impossible. Breakfast had little real choice, and most of what was offered was barely edible.

The morning buffet at the hotel restaurant was good, and the staff were very polite and nice. It’s a small hotel with everything you need, including a refrigerator, though some of the furniture is a little dated. Holy Etchmiadzin is right nearby, about a two-minute walk, which makes the location very convenient. I’d recommend it, as long as you’re not expecting a five-star experience.

The bed is a coiled mattress that seems not to have been replaced in years. You feel the springs whichever way you turn. Soundproofing is absent too, so you might be unlucky and have your bedhead right by the next room’s shower and toilet. It’s an old Soviet hotel, which could be a plus if you’ve never stayed in one. The old lift has a lovely classic design and bounces a bit.

The staff smile and do their best to make you happy, which really stood out to me. It’s not easy to see someone smile in Yerevan!! Still, not everything you ask for will be available. For instance, management won’t let you take photos with the staff.
