Apricot Hotel Yerevan

The restaurant was amazing, with a beautiful view of Mt. Ararat, and breakfast was good. The staff were really nice too. Inside, the hotel feels completely different from the usual places, old and historical, almost like stepping back in time, even though it looks ordinary from outside. Two things kept me from giving it five stars: there’s no bidet, which is a must for me, and the lighting is always warm with no neutral or cool option. There’s no bedroom vanity or mirror either, so doing my makeup was difficult. We still loved our time in Armenia. Amazing!

The construction noise made it difficult to relax, even though the room itself was fine. Most staff were polite, but a few were unhelpful, and that left a bad impression.

When we arrived to check in, they had no reservation for us. They said they only take bookings through Booking and sent us off to find another hotel in an unfamiliar city. That was after I’d used the website contact form to ask about options for the following month. Their reply was slow, so I called a week later, and they got back to us within an hour and said they had a room with a view of Ararat. They might want to look up “conversion,” the marketing term. A hotel should be able to guide a customer through a basic transaction, and they failed to do that. Everyone reading this, go to Forum Hotel next door.

The location worked well for exploring Yerevan, and the breakfast area has great views across to Mount Ararat. Rooms were clean and tidy, though the decor felt a little dated. I paid about 70 euros per night.
