Haya Guest House

I spent 3 days at this guest house, and it felt like home. It’s quiet, neat, clean, and secure. I met the owner Hobo, who was friendly and kind. The rooms are like a Five star hotel, with a thoughtful, home-like interior, and there’s a great cooking space. I recommend it for families and solo travelers, and it’s especially good for a long stay.

There’s no privacy here. The staff watch what you do and keep telling you what you can and can’t do, so it feels like someone is always hovering. They don’t turn on the AC/heat, and housekeeping never comes to clean the room. Getting around is also difficult: this place is far out in the middle of nowhere, so without your own car you can be stuck waiting 30 minutes or more for an online taxi. The nearest grocery run means walking about 2 km down a dirt road, with wild dogs everywhere, fighting among themselves and coming right up to you. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The main drawback for me was the distance from the city center, about 30 mins. If you have a car or don’t mind taking a Yandex taxi, though, the house is on a hill with fresh air and away from traffic noise. The garden and outdoor seating are lovely for relaxing, and the house mates, owner Havick, and Anush are all kind and friendly. It’s newly built, with a large, clean room and furniture, TV, fridge, A/C and other things all in excellent condition. I especially liked the shower. There’s a kitchen attached to the building for cooking or storing groceries, and an iron is provided.
