We liked it enough to come back for our final night after the trip. Both stays were excellent for the affordable price. We’d booked online ahead of time, and on arrival got a top-floor room in this cosy, welcoming hostel. Breakfast came with the stay and was good. The house suits people who like walking around and exploring the city. The windows had beautiful views, and the friendly cats added to the homely feel. When we first arrived, everything was under snow; five days later, the place had a completely different charm. One thing to know is that the electrical appliances are in the main room, so you have to go there to use them. We had a fantastic stay for the price and would recommend it to other travelers.

We cancelled the rest of our night after seeing the room. It looked nothing like the photos and was so dirty that we found hair and nose snots on the side table (photos), plus hair in the bathroom siphon. The mattresses had a yellow aphrolex kind of layer under the sheets. Breakfast was supposed to run from 09:00 to 11:00, but when we went down at 10:00 there was nothing left. Luckily, a lady was making fried sunny side eggs on request, with some leftover cheese and bread.

This is one of the cheapest places to stay in town, and the staff are friendly. The guesthouse is big and clean, and the bed was comfortable. I had a basement room, though, and while it was spacious, it had no AC and the Wi-Fi barely worked. Even my mobile data signal was a struggle. It was okay in winter, but I imagine it could get very hot in summer. The bathroom had the basics you need, including a helpful hot and cold shower. Breakfast was very basic, nothing special, but enough to fill you up. You can walk to the Cascade complex and city centre in 20-30 minutes.

My son and I had a lovely stay at JR's House Hotel. It's affordable and good value, with a delicious breakfast and excellent service. The hotel is very clean, and the staff are wonderfully friendly and helpful. Thanks to Zeena, Ashok, Narineh, and the lovely kitchen lady whose name I wish I knew for making us feel so welcome. It's a little far from the main tourist sights, but it's still one of the best hotels we've stayed at. I’d recommend JR's House Hotel to families looking for a comfortable, welcoming place.
