Red Hotel Yerevan

The sheets and towels were dazzlingly clean, but those mattresses may be older than my grandmother. We also found ourselves sharing the apartment with cockroaches. Hopefully they paid their share.

The location made it easy to explore the city, and the rooms were comfortable and clean. The staff were so welcoming that we had a wonderful stay in Yerevan. We’d gladly come back and recommend the hotel to others.

The city center is within walking distance, and the owner was really kind and friendly. During my three-night stay, whenever I went to reception, the owner would invite me to sit and relax in the garden, which has a swimming pool. My room matched the one shown in the advertisements exactly. The owner was very kind throughout my stay.

The room photos on Booking.com did not match the two rooms we were shown. They were dirty, the air conditioning didn’t work, and the bathroom smelled bad. We also saw people nearby who seemed suspicious. In one ground floor room, several men were not fully dressed and didn’t appear sober. My husband and I had booked through Booking.com. It took a while to find anyone to check us in, even though we arrived in the early evening. Eventually an elderly man came, and he was extremely unprofessional and impolite. We cancelled immediately after a very tense, unprofessional conversation with the owner, or whoever he was, and had to find another hotel. I grew up in Yerevan and should have remembered the location. It’s considered part of the extended city center, but it’s not well located. Walking to the city center takes a good 20+ minutes along bumpy streets, which isn’t a great experience for a tourist. The location was only a small part of the problem. The owners should get the business in order and hire someone professional if they can’t handle customers. They shouldn’t lie in the photos, because guests will arrive and see the place for themselves.
