The breakfast buffet was fantastic, with a good selection and something different each day. Hospitality was warm and attentive throughout. We stayed about three nights, and our compact room was comfortable, well laid out, and roomy enough for two. The hotel is opposite a park, so the surroundings feel calm and pleasant. Republic Square is a bit of a walk, but not inconvenient.

The service was excellent, the hotel was very clean, and nights were peaceful enough for a good sleep. The food was delicious, well prepared, and offered plenty of variety. It’s right in the CBD, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. I also liked the environmentally friendly setting and the efforts to teach guests about saving resources. Their ongoing analysis of things like breakfast times is great. I did have a bad experience in the wellness facility. The women there didn’t want to serve me, and while others were getting towels, it took me 15 minutes to get mine for the sauna. I asked them to treat everyone equally, since the hotel welcomes people of all races and colours. Still, I made new friends in the sauna and everyone there embraced me. The 15 minutes in the sauna felt too short.

We won’t be staying at this Holiday Inn, and perhaps not another one either. I tried to book a room for an upcoming vacation for two, then noticed the hotel charges an additional fee per person on top of the room rate. That nearly doubles the price. I’m glad I caught it before booking. We’ve stayed at several Holiday Inns around the world and never encountered this policy. IHG told me that some rates cover only one guest, extra guests incur additional charges, and each hotel has its own policy because they’re individually owned and managed. They said to enter the correct guest count when booking to get the right quote. So be aware.

The hotel has nice rooms, new furniture, and a great location close to everything. I lost two stars because the adjoining restaurant plays loud music until midnight, with a huge screen constantly showing videos of ladies eating. Avoid a room facing the inside courthouse if you want to sleep at night. The pool is managed by a third party and is always busy, with patrons acting as if they own the place and hotel guests are only there as a favor.

The location is really convenient, close to everything, and I had good customer service along with great room service and maintenance. I loved my stay at this Holiday Inn and will go back. 👍🏻
