Venezia Palazzo Hotel

The room was very spacious, almost like a luxury suite, and the bathroom jacuzzi was a real highlight. Breakfast in bed was delicious and generous, served on a large, nicely arranged plate. The property looked magnificent, almost like a grand palace, with an elegant feel throughout. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was warm and kind. She showed us around the room herself and explained the amenities and comforts. A truly delightful stay.

The room was spacious and decent, but nearly empty, with no water, coffee, or sugar. The curtains wouldn't close, the AC didn't work, and I found flies in the bathroom. The electricity also went out. The hotel is a long way from downtown, right by the highway, so it's noisy. The elevator is tiny and creepy, makes noises, and only starts at the first floor, meaning you have to carry bags up the stairs to reach it. The staff didn't know English, which made communication very hard. There's no phone in the room, so every time you need something you have to go down to reception. One star is more than enough for this disaster. Check the hotel carefully and don't pay unless you're completely sure.

The hotel was good value for the money, with a few oddities. Our room was roomy, though the faux royal decor was strange and didn't quite work. The nearly 200 cm wide bed was extremely comfortable, even with only one large blanket. The air conditioning was broken, but the huge hot tub made up for it. It took almost an hour for the cold water to drain when we first turned it on, but after it heated up, it was wonderful. We'd consider booking again just for the tub. There were only small windows, and oddly they couldn't be opened. They faced a busy, noisy road, so fresh air wouldn't have been much of a gain anyway. The thick walls blocked most of the street noise. The receptionist spoke no English, and having to pay cash was inconvenient. Tap water tasted strangely chemical, so we mostly drank bottled water.

We only stayed one day while in transit, and that was enough for me. Children ran through the corridors and adults shouted, while staff did nothing. The noisy refrigerator had to be turned off overnight. The bed linen was clearly used, so we asked for fresh sheets. Breakfast came to the room, and it was edible. The jacuzzi was large and very comfortable, which is the only reason I'm giving two stars. I won't return.
