Hotel Ekuikui I

The location worked well, with restaurants within walking distance. I also tried the body massage service during my stay and found it pretty good. The rooms could use maintenance, as seems true of many places in Angola, and the staff helped as much as they could.

The housekeeping staff were friendly and kept my room in good shape, but the hotel itself is managed terribly despite being decent otherwise. Check whether the air conditioner works before settling in. Mine didn't work for two days, and I'm still unsure it works at all. The restaurant had less than a quarter of the dishes listed on the menu, and the bar had run out of beer. Breakfast was gone if you didn't get there before 7, and nothing was replenished.

The staff's friendliness and constant willingness to help made my stay a good one. At the moment, this is the best the province can offer, but the hotel needs proper upkeep to keep functioning well. The carpets should be replaced, and so should the mattresses.

The view over Huambo city is great, and the rooms are practical. Breakfast was good too. The bathroom is small but does its job. The air conditioners don't work. That's manageable in the evening, but it could get uncomfortable during the day. Rates have increased, making this one of the most expensive hotels in Angola's provinces.
