Sierra Hostel - La casa de Juani

The hosts made us feel very welcome and had good ideas for hikes, activities, and places to see. The price was good, and everything was spotless, from the kitchen and bathrooms to the showers and bedrooms. I loved the atmosphere, and the clean, well-equipped shared spaces work nicely for solo travelers or families. There's a lovely green area with wide views of Cerro Tres Picos and the mountains around it. I'll be back for sure.

Watching the sun go down over Tres Picos with a mate in hand is hard to beat. You can see the mountain right across from you when you step outside. Juani and Aye are so welcoming, and the hostel feels warm, peaceful, and inviting. I also really admire how much they care about the environment. The trip with Juani to the Sierras Grandes reserve was affordable, and he's a great guide. I'll stay at La Casa de Juani again when I'm back in Sierra.

The place looks really nice, which makes this frustrating. I messaged on WhatsApp on February 5th to ask about rates and availability, and I'm still waiting for a reply while here in Sierra de la Venta, so I can book. It seems they must be doing very well if they don't respond to people trying to stay. They DON'T ANSWER WHATSAPP MESSAGES, AND IF THEY DO, THEY'RE VERY RUDE.

The location is special, with one of the few privileged views of Cerro Tres Picos, especially at sunset. I also joined Juan's trek to Paredes Rosas in the Sierras Grandes Natural Reserve. He's a guide, and the place was one of the most impressive I've seen in Sierra de la Ventana, on my fifth trip there. I was in the shared room, but happened to have it to myself. Juani and Ayelen were excellent hosts, attentive to every detail, and the place was clean, comfortable, and warm.
