Alvear Palace Hotel

The WiFi was very poor, and the rooftop pool closing at 6pm was a real disappointment. After a long, hot day exploring the city, we hoped to take a dip, but it was already closed at 6:15. It was still light, with a beautiful view, and it seemed like a pool like this could stay open later so guests could enjoy the night skyline too. We were there for one night as part of a cruise package. The lobby and dining areas were lovely, the staff were kind and welcoming, and everyone spoke good English. Our room was spacious and well stocked, though its single small window made it feel a bit dark and confined. The bed was comfortable, the shower pressure was excellent, and breakfast was good.

Recoleta was a great base, easy to explore on foot and surrounded by parks, cafes, and beautiful architecture. Our suite had classic European charm, with elegant decor, lots of space, and every detail thoughtfully done. It felt luxurious without sacrificing comfort. The staff were warm and gracious throughout, and the service was seamless. Breakfast each morning was another highlight, with plenty of choice, lovely presentation, and attentive service. A timeless experience, and an easy five stars.

Breakfast was the weak point for us. At that price, I expected better quality and more variety. Still, Alvear Palace Hotel is in a prime spot in Recoleta, one of the best areas of Buenos Aires, and the property has striking Belle Époque-inspired architecture, marble interiors, and a refined classical look. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated, blending traditional French style with comfort. Service was good and the atmosphere welcoming. It’s a strong option for travelers looking for luxury, distinctive architecture, and a central place to stay.

We spent our honeymoon at the Alvear Palace over Christmas, and the kindness of the staff really stood out. Their professionalism came with a genuine warmth that I especially appreciated. The rooms were spacious, quiet, and stylish, and the same care seemed to extend throughout the property, from the restaurants and spa to the corridors and lobby. The interiors have a distinctive character and refined style, with thoughtful attention to detail everywhere.
