Blue Soho

The location is great, that’s it. The building is an OLD mansion, the hallway stinks, and the room finishes are awful. On the first day I couldn’t stand the room they put us in and asked to move. The next room had the same defects. The towels were old, with a note asking guests not to have them washed to save water. I didn’t feel comfortable having breakfast, and didn’t even go to look at it. The double bed we slept in was two single beds pushed together, sagging in the middle. I woke up with a lot of body aches.

The location is the main draw, right in lively Palermo Soho, with plenty of places to walk, eat, and relax, plus a traveling market nearby. The retro style may appeal to some, and the price is reasonable, but there’s no parking. Breakfast was only so-so: decent products, not much variety. It’s a renovated old house, so it doesn’t have the bright, airy space of a newer hotel, which is understandable. What isn’t okay is the lack of maintenance: broken floors, neglected bathrooms, torn comforters, and old, dirty curtains. It feels like management has completely neglected the place. It looks welcoming at first, but the details take away the charm. If it keeps being run this way, I wouldn’t come back.

The only good thing was the friendly reception staff. The room had little light and cobwebs on the ceiling, and there was lots of noise at night. The bidet didn’t work, the towels were stained, and the TV shut off whenever I tried to change the channel or turn up the volume. Breakfast was extremely basic, like the one a guest showed, and nothing like what they advertise. I learned during this vacation that the Booking.com photos can’t be trusted. I saw the same issue at three hotels I stayed in. Their ratings are very inaccurate, and they lie about services. The previous comments are all true.

The staff were really kind and helpful, and breakfast was good. It was a comfortable place to rest after a day touring Buenos Aires.
