Destino Real Hotel

It’s very clean and the service is good. The location is convenient, close to subway and bus stations. Just remember to close the curtains, especially if you’re a couple, since there’s a school across the street. Breakfast could use more options. It was breads, boxed juice, coffee, and hot milk.

The location is central, near Rivadavia and public transportation. Staff greeted us warmly, and we got a non-smoking room with a king-size bed. It looked renovated and was very clean, with tile throughout. The bathroom had a toilet, bidet, sink, and shower, with strong water pressure and plenty of hot water. The bed could use replacing, along with the sheets, pillows, linens, and towels. There are only a few rooms on each floor. Breakfast was included, with coffee, croissants, cereal, and orange juice.

I booked a one-night stay through an app for $50. When I arrived to pay, the receptionist insisted that I pay using the blue dollar rate, which was 280 pesos to the dollar, because I was a tourist and not a citizen. I explained that I don’t pay taxes, I’m not a citizen, and there was no reason to charge me the unofficial rate instead of the official rate used by other hotels. I also told her that demanding this was illegal. She said it was in the hotel’s bylaws. I checked, and there was nothing about this in them. When I asked for the bylaws in writing, she refused to comment or show them to me. Under pressure, the clerk couldn’t give me a valid reason to pay the unofficial rate, which is more than double the normal one. I had to find another hotel in the middle of the night. According to the receptionist, tourists are charged the unofficial dollar rate, more than twice the official rate accepted elsewhere.

You can’t sleep here, and the room equipment is broken. The photos they advertise on booking sites have nothing to do with this place. The people who work here are the worst part. Be careful, nothing they say is true, and watch your credit card. This is really one of the worst hotels in Buenos Aires.
