Downtown BA Hostel

We had a good time at Hostel Downtown. The Wi-Fi was really good, it was quiet, and we could cook in the kitchen and keep food in the fridge. There are several bathrooms. The staff were very friendly, especially Camillo, who answered all our questions, recommended places and restaurants, helped with our SimCards, and was always up for a chat. I gave four stars because the rooms looked old and very basic. Our ventilator was extremely noisy, but we needed it to sleep in the hot room at the top of the hostel. The bathrooms need renovation too. I saw a construction worker there, so maybe it’s being renovated, but it might take a while. Everything else was fine. Thanks for everything 😊

Good location, and that’s about it.

The room was compact, just right for one or two people, and really comfortable. Everything was spotless, and the bathrooms were kept clean, though some guests didn't leave them that way. Marta, the owner, welcomed us warmly, and the reception staff were lovely too. Thanks for the patience and great service. My time in Buenos Aires was much easier because of this place, and I'd stay here again if I return.

We arrived at 1:00 AM after booking a private double room three weeks ahead for three nights, only to be told it had been given to someone else. They put us, a couple, in a four-person bunk dorm instead. The connected dorm rooms meant no privacy, and it was unclean with cold shower water. We had nowhere else to go that night, and there was no compensation. We still paid the double-room rate, then had to urgently find somewhere else for the next day as prices had shot up. A very bad hostel experience. I don't recommend it.
