The room was quite large, and the bed was comfortable with a firm mattress, which I personally prefer. The shower had plenty of hot water, and the air conditioning worked well without much noise. The building is very old and beautiful, all in 1930s art deco style, though that’s a matter of taste. The reception was friendly and efficient. They offered us a Buenos Aires tour and a tango show with dinner, which was amazing and very reasonably priced. Breakfast suited me, though I don’t usually eat much in the morning. There was coffee, tea, yogurt, cereal, bread, eggs, ham, cheese, and more. We had a great time in Buenos Aires and I’d stay at the gran argentino hotel again if we came back. The worst part for me was that there wasn’t hot water, so we couldn’t take a proper shower for the whole stay. I can’t say for sure that the hotel was entirely to blame, since there may have been wider water outages in the area. The soundproofing was also terrible. It seemed like the neighbors were talking right inside our room. There were stains on the walls, towels, and curtains, and the bathroom was old, with a shower that sprayed water everywhere. The lock kept malfunctioning, and we had to call staff again and again just to get into our room. It was a disappointing stay.

The late checkout was a nice touch, they let us stay an extra hour, and the service was decent. The room itself was pretty average, though, and the bathroom felt extremely outdated. WiFi was awful in our room, even though it worked pretty well in the lobby.

The central location made getting around easy, and the room had plenty of space. I had a comfortable stay, with good value and the practical conveniences you want when staying in the heart of the city.
