I booked through Agoda after being drawn in by the good reviews, expecting there to be something special. There wasn't. The payment arrangement caused stress before I even got settled. They required full payment through PayPal or Western Union before confirming the booking, but I hadn't noticed that beforehand. On check-in day I kept getting emails telling me to update my card or risk cancellation. It wasn't a card problem, I was expected to pay upfront, but nobody explained that clearly until much later. I spent that time anxious about whether my reservation would be cancelled. The house is a duplex, but the heater is only upstairs in the bedroom. Even with it running, the place was so cold I felt the chill coming up from under the bed. I slept with one blanket under me and another over me. Both were stained with marks that looked like paint, and no sunlight came into the house. There isn't much here beyond what you'd find in a hostel, except for a hair dryer. As other guests have said, they don't even provide toilet paper. The two towels smelled bad, and one had odd discoloration and felt more like a rag. There's a kitchen, fridge, and cooking utensils, but no basics like oil, salt, or pepper. Hot water also ran out halfway through a shower on my first and last days of a four night stay, so I had to hurry and finish in cold water. At check-in I had told the host when to expect me and arrived on time, then contacted them again. Nobody came down with the key, leaving me outside in the cold for 20 minutes. Definitely not worth the money.

Mariano was a great host, always ready to help, and the location worked well for visiting tourist attractions. The building was clean, orderly, and peaceful. Everything was excellent, and we'll be back. Thanks so much! 😊❤️
