We had a loft room at HTL 9 de Julio with lovely balconies looking out over the avenue. There was plenty of room for our luggage, and the staff were kind and quick to respond to requests. It was an easy walk along the avenue to the obelisk, and we felt safe walking around at night. Traffic made it noisy after dark. Once we used earplugs and eye masks, though, we slept well.

For the price, this is a reasonable, no-frills hotel in a good location, and the staff were helpful. We stayed in the loft. The bedding was good and set up as expected, but the bathroom was very small and run-down, and the rooms need some maintenance.

The only positive was breakfast, which was brought to the room, although it arrived at random times. If you want to sleep, book somewhere else. The place was run-down, bright because the curtains were broken, and extremely noisy with no soundproofing. The door, windows, fridge, air conditioning, plugs, and curtains were broken or not working properly, and nothing seemed maintained. A faulty air conditioner in a neighboring room kept us awake all night, flooded the area with water, and was dangerously overheating. Nobody could stop it.

After we published this account, the hotel contacted us and showed a genuine willingness to address the situation more responsibly. Discussions led to an agreement meant to remedy the damage and balance both parties' interests fairly. We hope effective measures will follow so other guests do not go through something similar. During a family stay at HTL 9 de Julio in Buenos Aires from December 18 to 23, 2025, we were robbed in our room. On December 22, high-value belongings went missing: a MacBook, cash in U.S. dollars, credit and debit cards, a wallet, backpack, clothing, accessories, and a Brazilian passport. Our total loss was over USD 5,000. We had stayed there in 2023 and trusted the hotel as a safe place for our end-of-year holiday. On the day of the theft, we left around 10:30 a.m. and returned at about 6:30 p.m. to find the room had been cleaned, even though housekeeping was normally done only by request. We discovered the theft shortly afterward. We reported it to the front desk right away, but staff seemed completely unprepared and showed no urgency. They only contacted the manager and owner remotely. Police came to the hotel, but we still had to go to three different police stations before a report was filed, close to midnight. We asked to see the hotel's security camera footage. We were told it was managed by a third-party company, and the footage was never made available. As of January 11, 2026, we still had not been given access to it. The next day we checked out and went straight to the Brazilian Consulate to cancel the stolen passport, then returned to Brazil just hours later. No manager or owner met us in person at any point. All communication was remote while our family dealt with financial loss, emotional distress, and a sense of insecurity and vulnerability in a foreign country. There were serious problems even before the robbery: we were charged twice at check-in despite having partially prepaid through Booking, a staff member entered our room without permission, housekeeping and basic supplies were provided only on request, and live flies were often in the room. This was an unacceptable, traumatic experience and showed serious failures in security, management, and accountability. No compensation had been offered, and the case remains under investigation by Argentine police. We do not recommend this hotel. This review is meant to warn future guests.

On my third visit to beautiful Argentina, I made the mistake of booking HTL. The whole experience was awful, and I'll never return. It ruined the trip for me, and if I could give zero stars, I would. The lock on my room was a problem from the start and took an entire night to fix. When I asked the receptionist, Agostina, for help, she was rude and essentially told me to go to another hotel if I couldn't wait. Guest care was nonexistent, the service was terrible, and the breakfast was very poor.
