The laundry setup caused problems from the start. I booked on Airbnb because the listing showed a washing machine as an amenity. At check-in I asked where it was, and was told guests couldn't use the machines; washing was a paid service at $20 USD per load. After I challenged that, they offered one free wash for the “misunderstanding,” though the listing had simply been wrong. It was later changed to say the machines cost extra. One wash doesn't cover a month-long stay. The building is very old and poorly insulated, and the air always feels damp and stuffy. Summer here is suffocating. The AC couldn't cool the place unless I left it running full blast 24/7. Karin complained about that and told me to switch it off. She then said electricity was billed separately, something the listing hadn't mentioned. When I raised the inaccurate listing, she read my message and didn't reply. There were other problems with the apartment, too. The couch was stained, half the lights didn't work, and Karin said she'd give me replacement bulbs but never did. The bulbs flickered instead of burning out, so I suspect the wiring was as shoddy as the rest of the place. During my last week, she took the oven because she needed it for an event. I was also woken several times by Karin yelling to the cleaning lady from the fourth floor. When I complained, she excused it by saying it was 10:30. I had arrived at about 2 a.m. the night before, and people trying to sleep shouldn't have to hear someone shouting across the building. She could have used a cell phone. On the ground floor, leaving the window open means the cats may come into your room. They're cute, but they meow and scratch at the window to be let in, which gets annoying. The “hotel” feels more like a hostel, too. My window faced a hallway, so there was no real privacy. Getting fresh air meant becoming a spectacle for everyone there, which was another reason I couldn't simply turn off the AC. There was church chanting on Sundays. It didn't bother me, but it was creepy, lol. Please listen to the people who say this place is crap and spare yourself the experience. Most of all, don't give this lady more money. Edit in response to the Airbnb owner's claims: It was 10:30, not 11:30, as my photo shows. Either way, no one should be yelling where guests are meant to sleep. Cell phones exist for a reason. The church singing wasn't disturbing, just creepy, lol. As I said, laundry wasn't listed as an extra charge when I booked. You know that because I showed the listing to your daughter. You don't get to criticize how I live in the apartment. I returned it clean, and that's what matters. The only reason you know otherwise is that you interrupted my privacy by showing my room to someone while I was still living there. That was very unprofessional. I agreed only because I was tired of dealing with you. This review isn't meant to cause harm. It's meant to show what you provide when someone uses your service. If that hurts your business, it reflects how poor the service is. You're right that BA is full of shitty rentals. I'll call it out when you're another one of them, while charging a lot more. Second edit: I've added more pictures because I'm still upset about the level of service for what I paid. :)

The staff's indifference and rudeness made an already disappointing stay worse. When I complained about the room, they seemed more interested in talking among themselves than helping, and showed no concern about the cleanliness. My room looked as though it hadn't been cleaned in weeks. There was grime and dirt on every surface, stained sheets, and mold in the filthy bathroom. Even the lobby was grimy, with a stale cigarette smell and musty carpets. The whole experience at Hotel Marcel De Buenos Aires was a nightmare. If cleanliness, comfort, and courteous staff matter to you, I'd advise finding somewhere else.

The art around the space is really cool, and the location is wonderful. I also loved the community salon, a nice extra spot to hang out, dance, and meet people.

After a long trip around Argentinia, we spent three nights here, and it was the best hotel of our trip. The building is nicely designed and quiet, with art throughout that adds so much to the atmosphere. What made our stay especially good was the owner's advice about things to do in Buenos Aires. Thanks to her tips, the city started to feel like home. We'd definitely recommend staying here, and we'd come back if we're in town again.

At Hotel Marcel De Buenos Aires, the staff seemed completely uninterested in helping guests, even with basic service. The place smelled unpleasant and musty throughout, and cleanliness was poor, from grimy surfaces and carpets to stained bedding. It was a dreadful stay. Save yourself the headache and avoid it. You'd be better off on a park bench.
